Flash intro song:
The Postal Service
Such Great Heights

I am thinking it's a sign that the freckles
in our eyes are mirror images and when
we kiss they're perfectly aligned
and I have to speculate that God himself
did make us into corresponding shapes like
puzzle pieces from the clay
true, it may seem like a stretch, but
its thoughts like this that catch my troubled
head when you're away when I am missing you to death
when you are out there on the road for
several weeks of shows and when you scan
the radio, I hope this song will guide you home

they will see us waving from such great
heights, "come down now," they'll say
but everything looks perfect from far away,
"come down now," but we'll stay...

I tried my best to leave this all on your
machine but the persistent beat it sounded
thin upon listening
that frankly will not fly. you will hear
the shrillest highs and lowest lows with
the windows down when this is guiding you home

they will see us waving from such great
heights, "come down now," they'll say
but everything looks perfect from far away,
"come down now," but we'll stay...

Mom and Dad's 2004 Christmas Card

"We send our love and blessings to your family and friends at this holy and wonderful time of the year! This past year has just seemed to "fly by" so fast! Our busy lives have included watching proudly as these young people and children get more and more involved with the busyness of life! It's hard to believe that 8 of our 22 grandchildren are "teenagers". Mya already has her driver's license, and by next summer Ali, Francis and Ryan will be driving too! Yikes!! Where has the time gone? Our "babies" (Mariel and Annie) turned 2 this month! Our special times together this year have included our 11th annual "Christmas in the Summer" in northern Wisconsin, and for the 5th year, a trip to the Smokey Mountains in the fall, with Marty and Jean and their families, and Tim. In August, Ellie & Joe and 3 other couples enjoyed a "new experience" (for us); a fishing trip to Alaska! We sure learned that we don't know much about fishing!!! But it was a great fun! Ellie must have enjoyed Alaska... last week she went there again with Jean; as she and Lance are contemplating a move there next summer, and wanted to look things over for housing, churches, schools, kids' activities, etc. Ellie's motive for going along might be to talk them out of it! Our other "family news" is that Marty and Mary have moved into their new home in Jordan, after living with us for about a year. They are SO happy to have their own "space" again! The "status" of the rest of the family is pretty unchanged from last year's up-date. Joe is still working and has no plans in the near future to retire. We try to get away for a week now and then; especially during the cold Minnesota winters. Golf is still the favorite summer activity, and Ellie plays tennis once a week. We also enjoy being involved at St. John's church in Jordan. Ellie's Mom is still doing well; we spend a couple of days each week with her. She was pleased to have several of her "kids" & grand kids in town recently for our annual Dufek Christmas Party; a busy weekend for her as they helped her get all of her Christmas mailing and commitments taken care of. Ellie appreciated their help more than Mom! We pray for you and yours, and for us; that the "business" of life does not replace the real meaning of this beautiful feast! We pray too for your good health in the coming year!

Love, Joe and Ellie
